Brian Ellis Rules!

I'm just a simple man.

For those who care (which is probably the entire free world and maybe even some of our homies on lockdown) I'm not a complete ego-maniac. No, the name "Brian Ellis Rules" comes from my college graduation way back in December of 2000. Before we filed into the auditorium, we were instructed to write our names phonetically on the back of a 3x5 card. This way, when it came time to 'walk', we could hand our card to the person reading the names and they could announce our name , which meant we didn't have to sit in any pre-determined order. As I was sitting amongst the sea of students, waiting for our section to be called up so we could go get our envelope (complete with mousepad and letter from the alumni association, but no diploma), I began to think. I wondered aloud, "Hmmm, since they're just reading these as we get up there, you could probably write 'rules' at the end of your name and have them announce it." Sure enough, the next thing I know, my buddy is scrambling to find a pen for me. About 30 seconds later I was put to the test. Yes, ladies and gentleman, I was called out. Needless to say, I was introduced to the parents, faculty, distinguished guests and graduating class as "Brian Ellis Rules"...

And it's been downhill from there ever since.
